You can drop off anytime during business hours and we will give you a call when we finish going through your items, sometimes in one hour and never more than two days.

In January, Child*Style is open Tuesday-Friday 10am-5pm and Saturday 10am-4pm.

Resale Shopping in the News

Child*Style and other local resale stores where featured in an article appearing in today's Duluth News Tribune.

Scroll down to the bottom left side to find the article and other information:

There are few photos also:

The article discusses how you can save money by shopping resale and how you can make money by taking items to resale stores. Another point I'd like to make is that when you shop at a locally-owned resale store, ALL of the money you spend stays in the area. Since we get our inventory from people in the twin ports area, the money you spend goes right back into our community.

We Have Your Belly Covered

This is Child*Style's first week open and there is still a lot of space to fill. One area that is full of options is the maternity section. We currently have a few hundred maternity items in sizes from XS to 3X. I have yet to see a pregnant lady that I would describe as "Extra Small" but we have clothing for her if she does exist! We also carry brands from common to designer, so you'll be sure to find something you like within your budget. You will be able to try on before you buy in a clean, organized, and comfortable atmosphere.

If you don't see any reason to pay full price for clothing that you will wear for just a few months, head to Child*Style!

Help Fill These Empty Racks!

It's hard to believe that we are almost ready to open. All we need to do is finish building the dressing rooms and play area. Oh, and we need to fill this space with STUFF! We are currently buying gently used children's and maternity items. Bring in your items during business hours and we will go through them within 1-2 days.

The amount we pay depends on many factors including condition, age, style, brand, demand, and season. Please understand that we will give you a batch offer and cannot give a price list per item. Remember, the better your items look, the more you can get for them. Here are some selling guidelines to help you:

*Children's clothing: preemie through pre-teen in like-new condition. Bring freshly laundered clothing laid flat in a tote or basket. Clothing should be free of stains, holes, lint, pet hair, or odors. Check that zippers work and no buttons are missing. Press clothing if needed.

*Maternity clothing: all sizes. The same guidelines apply as for children's clothing. You may bring maternity clothing on hangers which will be returned to you.

*Toys and Equipment: must be very clean, in working order, and include all pieces. Include batteries if required. Please check your items for recalls at http://www.recalls.gov/

We also buy small furniture, decor, books, and video. If you are not sure, just ask, Due to safety concerns, we do not take car seats or most cribs. In general, we do not take stuffed animals or opened board games or puzzles.

Updates

Is it possible to open a new retail store in only four weeks? I have discovered the answer: only if EVERYTHING goes according to the planned schedule. Of course that rarely happens, especially when there are a variety of jobs to be completed. In our case, the store remodeling got two weeks behind schedule, and we are working day and night to make up lost time. Friends and family painted yesterday and today, and only a few minor areas are left. Electrical work is still being done. Carpeting is going in tonight and tomorrow. After that, the dressing rooms and play area can be constructed and the fixtures can be moved in. Finally, inventory will moved into the store and we can open for business!

Pictures will be posted as the different areas are completed, so check back often. If you wish to contact me (Child Style Lisa), my e-mail address is at the top of the page, or you can use the link under "view my complete profile." Thanks for reading about my opening adventure!

A sign of more to come

When I realized that this year's 4th of July parade in Superior would be back on Belknap Street, I knew the shop windows need some signs. After an all-nighter Friday, they were ready before the parade started on Saturday. Maybe you are reading this blog because you saw the website address on the door?

A simple sign of white paper and marker would have announced the same information, but this is a better representation of what Child*Style will be: fun, organized, clean, and modern.
